About Tiffany Modell
Bachelor of Music Summa Cum Laude, Violin performance, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Master of Music, Rice University Shepherd School of Music.
Ms. Modell is a descendant of the highly regarded Ivan Galamian violin school. Her teachers include internationally renowned soloist and recording artist Sergiu Luca and the celebrated pedagogue Dorothy DeLay (teacher of Itzhak Perlman, Midori, Sarah Chang, and Gil Shaham, to name a few) at The Juilliard School. Both Luca and DeLay were students of Galamian in their youth. Other influencial teachers include Naoko Tanaka - a founder and leader of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra N.Y.C., and Kurt Sassmannshaus - world renowned pedagogue and the D. R. Starling Chair for Classical Violin.
Ms. Modell's career includes recitals, chamber music, orchestral concerts, teaching and chamber music coaching in America and Europe. She has held the leadership positions of Concertmaster and Soloist for the Virginia Symphony, the Virginia Opera Orchestra, The Classics 4 Kids Philharmonic, and California Chamber Orchestra. She has also performed locally with the San Diego Symphony and Orchestra Nova. She ended her tenure as a 1st violinist in the Kansas City Symphony of Missouri in 2001. Since that time, Ms. Modell has been an active orchestral/chamber musician and recitalist.
Teaching violin has always been a part of Ms. Modell’s professional life. She is a member of the American String Teachers Association astaweb.com and a certified teacher of the Royal Conservatory of Music specializing in their beginning, intermediate & advanced violin syllabi RCMusic.com. Ms. Modell has over 20 years of teaching experience with all levels and ages of students.
Ms. Modell is among the elite performers and teachers of the greater San Diego area. Enrollment in her studio is limited so that each student receives the highest quality teaching and attention. Her main objective is to foster and develop young talent so that our community and world can be beautified by violin music for centuries to come.
